WhiteSmoke deals with grammatical structures of sentences and not with their semantic meaning. Therefore, WhiteSmoke does not detect the mistake in the sentence "I am failed". am/is/are + v3 is a grammatically correct structure (i.e. The sandwich is eaten, I am taken...)  and you would have to go into the semantic meaning of the sentence in order to correct it to "I am failing".
